Google Now Showing Restaurants 'Wait Times' on Local Results in Search and Maps

Simply search a restaurant on Google, open business listing, and scroll down to the popular times section.

People waiting in long lines for tasting their favorite foods in a restaurant, now rolling out wait times on search and Maps that will show you the estimated wait at their favorite restaurants, so you can decide whether it's really worth to wait or plan ahead at a time when you can avoid a wait entirely.

The new wait times feature appearing near the "Popular Times" section, let you search for the restaurant on Google search and Maps to see wait time for nearly a million sit-down restaurants, "just open the business listing and scroll down to the popular times section."

To see wait times for nearly a million sit-down restaurants around the world that allow walk-ins, just search for the restaurant on Google, open the business listing, and scroll down to the Popular Times section. Once in the section, an estimated current wait time [for that very moment] will appear. A Simple tap on any of the hour bars, will show users the estimated wait for the selected time period.

Additionally, scrolling left and right will help you see a summary of each day's wait times just below the hour bars for planning ahead.

Wait time are computed similiarly how popular times and visit duartions are computed and are based on anonymized historical data.

The feature is rolled out today on Google Search, and will also appear on Google Maps, soon.
