Quickoffice, a leader in office productivity solutions is now part of Google. The search company today, announced the acquisition.
"Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we'll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite," posted Alan Warren, Engineering Director, Google.
"Quickoffice has a strong base of users, and we look forward to supporting them while we work on an even more seamless, intuitive and integrated experience.
We're excited to welcome the Quickoffice team and their users to Google," he said in a official google blog post.

The following features are now available to domains (including Google Apps, Google Apps for Business, Government and Education) following the Scheduled Release track:
Starting Monday, June 11th, the new Google bar look will be rolling out to all Google Apps users. "The new Google bar has links to core services at the top level and a More drop-down list with links to additional services."
- Google Search, Images and Mobile always appear in the Google bar
- When you turn off a service, other services move to the top level of the Google bar or to a higher position in the list of services under More
- Gmail: Graduation of the "Nav bar drag and drop" lab, which allows the user to reorder gadgets inside the gadget pane.
And, the following features are intended for release to these domains on June 12th: "Gmail: End-users will be able to select Welsh and Latin American Spanish as the default language in Gmail Settings," revealed google.
Today's June 5th, World IPv6 Launch, coordinated by the Internet Society, marks the day that participating websites, Internet Service Providers (ISP), and network hardware manufacturers switch on IPv6 permanently in parallel with IPv4.
"Today, Virtually all Google's services have been available over IPv6 for a while, but IPv6 access was only available to networks participating in the "Google over IPv6" program. From now on, they will be made available to any IPv6 network on the Internet (well, almost any)," posted Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist.
"Complete transition will take time. Some users may need to upgrade their home routers or possibly download updated operating system software to enable IPv6 in parallel with IPv4. If you're interested in when you'll get IPv6 connectivity (if you don't have it already), we encourage you to reach out to your ISP and ask," Vint added.
In YouTube news, Today, YouTube opens the doors to more songwriters, publishers and content creators by forming new deals with BMG Rights Management, Christian Copyright Solutions, ABKCO Music, Inc., Songs Music Publishing, Words & Music, Copyright Administration, Music Services, Reservoir Media Management, and Songs of Virtual.
"These new deals, along with the licenses from the many publishers who have opted in to last year's deal with the NMPA / Harry Fox Agency, will allow us to monetize nearly all of the user generated videos with music on YouTube," the team noted.
For those new, "Content ID system allows music publishers to identify the works of songwriters whether the compositions appear in an original sound recording or in a cover version, using information provided to us by the publishers."
Content ID is used today by 3,000+ partners including every major US music publisher, record label, network broadcaster, and movie studio.
Also, each month, YouTube identify four partners whose channels have recently experienced significant growth but haven't yet reached the 100,000 subscriber count for "On The Rise" program.
