“Google accounted for 72.17% of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending May 29, 2010. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask received 14.43%, 9.23% and 2.14%, respectively. The remaining 74 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 2.03% of U.S. searches,” revealed Hitwise.
In addition, search engines continue to be the primary way Internet users navigate to key industry categories. “Among the top three search engines, Google delivered most visits to Automotive, Health, Shopping and Travel categories year over year. Plus, Google’s percentage of upstream traffic grew for Automotive, Shopping and Travel categories. Yahoo! Search also saw gains in Automotive and Shopping categories. And Bing saw triple-digit growth in two categories – Health and Shopping – including a 107% increase in Health category,” Hitwise reports.
