Google Data Studio Brings Reuseable Filters, Integrates with Analytics Segments and GCP

Google Data Studio, Tuesday enable more businesses to easily connect to data and create easy to read, share, and fully customizable informative reports—as it's now accessible in 180+ countries.

In addition, it also brings in more new powerful features to better analyze and report on data, including:

The Studio now allow filter data in more new ways and also makes it easier to reuse filters on as many different multiple charts as you want. The new functionality includes: "Compound filtering let you combine multiple AND and OR filter conditions together into one reusable filter," "Filter metric values that are too large, too small, or within a specified range," team Analytics says.

The Data Studio now intergates well with Google Cloud Platform enables faster data reporting at scale and more powerful functionality.

A new Data Studio ability let upload directly up to 2GB of CSV data for free into BigQuery using BigQuery account from anywhere.

Additionally, Data Studio now also support Standard SQL in BigQuery for custom queries and partitioned tables.

Google has also improved several popular data connectors by adding new dimensions and metrics to YouTube, DoubleClick Campaign Manager, and AdWords. Some highlights include:

  • adding YouTube video title,
  • DoubleClick Campaign Manager revenue
  • and cross-environment conversions broken out by app,
  • AdWords campaign ID, and keyword quality score.

Google Analytics segments can now be seen in Data Studio, and can be applied to any chart. And, when segments definitions updates, "those changes will apply to segments in Data Studio as well," the team said.

"A Google Analytics segment represents a subset of data, for example, Returning Users."
