Microsoft’s FUSE released “Social Gadgets,” an exploratory project to visualise the Twitter firehose. It gives you dynamic visualizations of real-time Twitter data that you can embed on your site or blog….just like the one below. There’re four Social Gadgets that rely on real time indexing of the Twitter:
- Tag Cloud: Given a keyword, this gadget displays a visual tag cloud depicting main entities found in the given time period and their relative time and volume of appearance.
- Timeline centric display of related terms and their volume of appearance during a chosen period of time.
- Buzz: Given a keyword, this gadget highlights the buzz around a specific person, profile or topic.
- Comparison: Volume of appearance of 2-3 terms are displayed on same timeline. This’s great way to compare levels of buzz around topics and identify major points in time where some topics spiked.
The gadgets are easily configured so you can choose a keyword and a template type, then just copy and paste an embed code to be displayed on your site.
