Foursquare on October 21st, announced a new milestone on its blog: 1 billion check-ins. The milestone comes just three months after the social location app hit 10 million users.

In honor of the billion check-ins, the foursquare team reached out to the community to show where all the checkins have happened in the world over the past week.

Europe, the United States and Japan seemed to have the strongest Foursquare users. South America had a good run in there too.
