After three years of its launch and over 20-million strong community, Forusquare today released the all new rebuilt makeover of the location service. Here are the highlights of the new 4sq:
First thing, Checking in, now faster than ever -- foursquare has moved the button - it's on the top right now!, and also sped up everything behind the scenes.
"Go to the profile tab to swipe through your history. Look up your favorite restaurant to check the menu, get directions, like it, or give them a call. Tap around to see what you discover," 4sq said.
Share and save your experiences
Foursquare added a new friends tab, that has huge, swipeable photos, plus tips, lists, and places your friends have saved. Also added the ability to quickly 'like' and comment on activity.
Discover what's nearby
The re-imagined Explore now gives ideas of where to go the moment you open it up, 4sq "you don't even have to search" -- and it is the system that tell you where your friends are (we moved nearby friends to here; just tap on the new 'friends nearby' box), where you can save money, and what you might like nearby.
"We even know if you're in your home neighborhood or traveling and adjust the recommendations. It's not the one-size-fits-all approach to local discovery you're used to; it's smart, because it's customized based on each of your check-ins, your friends' check-ins, and the more than "2,000,000,000 check-ins" from the foursquare community," the comapny said.
Also, you can now use Explore to browse popular categories, or find something specific, like 'free wi-fi' or 'dumplings.' Foursquare will personalize the results for you based on where you, your friends, and people with your tastes have checked in.
