People can already see movie, concert, and sporting events in the Foursquare app (and you should be able to see and edit those on your location). Now users will be able to add their own events, be it an author appearance, arts and crafts fair, or a fundraising event.
To start adding your events, log in to your manager account at Foursquare.com and click on the 'Tools' tab. Once added people will these event:
- "When they're deciding where to go next. Draw them through the door with events you're already hosting.
- When they check in at your business. Add events to encourage people to check in - plus their friends will see it in the app (and might stop by!).
- When they look at their check-in history. Help them record their experiences and remember what a great time they had at your event," the company blogged.

This December, Lexus is donating $10 to the Boys and Girls Club of America every(!) time you check in on Foursquare. And, "they'll double the donation when you check in at a dealership," 4sq said.
To make sure your check-ins count, "go to Lexuscheckinforcharity.com and click 'Get Started' to connect the app to your Foursquare account. Once you've connected, you'll be able to see how much money has been donated thanks to your check-ins, and a leaderboard that shows how you compare with friends."
Foursquare also now letting users connect to the Rager app to their Foursquare account. "The next time you check in at a bar, you'll see recommendations from friends and the pros at The Barbarian Group for exactly what you need next (carbs, more dranks, or a ride home from Uber)," the company adds.
