Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer announced the launch of new Yahoo! Mail, now designed for fast, easy and available across the different platforms including: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.
"We've redesigned the new version of Yahoo! Mail with speed in mind -- getting through your emails is faster than ever before. We've also made your inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your messages. And, because mobile is everything these days, Yahoo! Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices," Mayer wrote.
The new native apps features inbox access with just one tap, push notifications for new messages, infinite scroll for inbox, auto complete email addresses, swipe gestures, multi-select message options, and the ability to attach photos, preview photos, and search in folders.
The apps also easily scan inbox and quickly triage - starring important messages that need follow-up, filing messages to folders and deleting unimportant ones - all from the inbox.
It also reduces steps to save you time--now, when you log into Yahoo! Mail on the Web, it'll take you directly to your inbox. Mayer notes, "that they made it faster to compose and read messages, and that after you send a message, your are now taken back to the inbox. Collectively, that works out to 36 million minutes saved every day."
The improved mail search lets you get things done faster and search across your entire inbox. In addition, Web mail now has search auto-complete.
Yahoo also relocated photos and attachments that now appear at the top of a message.
On iPhone and Android, "you can easily attach photos directly from your camera roll, or take and send a photo from within Yahoo! Mail," the company said.
The new Windows 8 Mail app take advantage of the key features such as, "Live Tiles show new messages arriving right from the Windows 8 Start screen. And, it can used in Snapped View or Fill View, keeping two apps open simultaneously to increase your productivity," Mayer added.
