New features and improvements designed to provide developers visibility into optimal entry points, enhance existing conversations released to over 1 billion people using Facebook's Messenger Platform v1.3.

New features and updates in v1.3 include:

New referral parameters for m.me links, lets you easily identify how someone found you in Messenger as well as allow to effectively measure traffic attribution for bots that help determine the best entry point to Messenger experience. This new parameter also enables creating dedicated entry points to specific features or flows within a bot.

You can now easily implement a coupon program, enhance/track virality with a referral program, and much more.

New list template help you enhance messages by providing flexibility around formatting: "each row is tappable and a CTA can be added to the bottom of the template," or "to each individual row." The vertical list template is best suited to show people a collection of items in an 'at-a-glance' configuration.

Another way we're making it easier to communicate with the people who care about your business is by giving them the opportunity to opt in or out of Messenger interactions during an existing user experience - such as in a checkout flow, sign-up form, or contact form on the business' webpage.

Developers can also now add a "checkbox plugin" for customers to easily opt in or out of Messenger conversation with your business via checkout flow, sign-up form, or contact form on the business' webpage.

News Feed Ads, that was in testing for past few months, is now available to all advertisers on Facebook, and help them to raise awareness of their brand campaigns and increase sales with the ability to open conversations in Messenger with people.

To engage people with your businesses, Facebook advises to use highly targeted, in-context ad type "sponsored message", that allows businesses to re-engage people who have an open, existing conversation with their business by sending them targeted updates, information about promotions, reminders and other relevant messages.

These ads can be created through Power Editor or the Marketing API and will be charged on an impression basis.

Sponsored messages, which was launched in April this year as a test, is now available to businesses and developers who have an experience built on our Send/Receive API.

An update on Messages with Payments Beta Program [US Only], now allow businesses who are not integrated with Stripe/Paypal to process payments within both messages and webview. Now during a payment process, Facebook will send business single-use, tokenized credentials to integrate their preferred payment provider.

It also allow developers who manage multiple bots, "to integrate payments without requiring additional setup for each bot that they manage."

Businesses and developers also now have an ability to test payment integration to ensure proper setup of their payments experience prior to submitting an application for beta program.

Finally, the 'Buy' CTA button, which's already available on iOS and Android, "is now supported on desktop web, allowing customers to checkout via desktop."

Additional incremental features and improvements in v1.3 such as: "Bot visibility for page admins 'Messaging' within 'Page Settings', lets track bots that are tied to their page, even if added by other page admins."

Lastly, developers relied on seq ID for deduping can now use 'mid' instead, as 'seq id' is deprecated as a result of a new backend change for scalability and stability. Those who were using it for ordering purposes can use 'timestamp' instead, facebook said.
