For over 450 million people who visit to buy and sell groups each month in a local neighborhood to collectors around the world—Facebook “Marketplace”, helping in to discover, buy and sell items with local community launches today.
Marketplace on the Facebook app for iPhone and Android will be rolling out initially in the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand to everyone over 18 years in the next few days. With more additional countries, and Marketplace on the desktop will be available in the coming months, company said.
Additionally, new options and features will also add later to make this the best experience. To visit Marketplace, on you Facebook app, just tap on “shop icon at the bottom and start exploring”:
The Marketplace, then open up with photos of items near by you and lets you browse variety of categories such as Household, Electronics and Apparel. Even you can, “search and filter” your results by location, category or price for items specific.
“Tapping a image display more seller details including product description, name, profile photo of seller, and their general location,” writes facebook.
You can also save the item to find it later, or if you’ve decided to buy, just send the seller a direct message for getting an offer on the item. This point onward, “the seller and buyer can work out on the details they choose.” “Facebook does not facilitate the payment or delivery of items in Marketplace,” facebook stated.
Additonally, you can adjust or switch to a different city altogether, with the built-in location tool.
For those who want ot sell their items on Marketplace, follow these simple steps:
- Add a photo of the item you want to sell on Marketplace
- Enter a product name, description and price
- Confirm your location and select a category
- Post, that’s it.
Once you have posted items, anyone interested can find your item and message you should they want to buy it. Additionallly, you can also post items “to Marketplace and a specific buy and sell group at the same time.”
Of course, you can track all of your transactions (inclding current and past) in Marketplace, by visiting “Your Items section”. There, “you can view your saved items, products you’ve posted for sale, and all your messages with people,” added facebook.
