A number of improvements to Facebook Live for Mentions, announced making the experience more useful, enjoyable, and safe when you share live videos. Facebook Mentions, if you are not aware, "is an app that enables public figures such as athletes, musicians, journalists, politicians, and more — to easily connect with their audience on Facebook."
First among the updates is a new "team prompts" feature, that allow a public figure to collaborate with their teams before a live broadcast happens. The team can also schedule reminders for a public figure to go live or publish posts from the Mentions app at a specific time, such as from an event.
And, the new comment moderation tool, now adds the ability to add words and phrases, which will prevent comments containing those words from appearing during the broadcast.
To make the broadcast experience more seamless for both broadcaster and viewer, new features including: an 'adjustments tray', that adds more control and customization over how a broadcast appears to viewer including: "flipping camera horizontally or vertically, brightness settings, and option to choose to mirror picture or not." With mirroring setting, broadcaster can choose to showcase certain text or a sponsor logo during a branded content broadcast.
A broadcaster status bar, currently in testing with a small group provides a useful information about audio level, connectivity, and battery status in real time while the broadcaster is live at the bottom of the broadcast.
Finally, using broadcast trimming, boradcaster can trim excess footage from the beginning and end of their live video after a broadcast has ended.
These updates will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
