Facebook announced the addition of 360 video to the Facebook Live experience that transports people into new experiences—right as they happen and let "viewers immerses fully into the scene, letting them explore on their own and experience a new environment."
The initial launch comes from the partnership with National Geographic, live from the Mars Desert Research Station facility in Utah.
Facebook notes, Live 360 video will be available in the next few months to more Pages through the Live API and it'll be rolling out to all Pages and Profiles in 2017.
Facebook's introduction of live 360 videos comes at the heels of YouTube's 4K 360 live streaming which was launched just last month. YouTube has been supporting 360-degree live streaming since April this year. It looks like the battle for 360 videos and live streaming is ongoing.
