Instant Articles SDK Extension now Supports Google AMP, soon Apple News

To address the demand of developers asking for a support of other major publishing formats for Instant Articles, today, gains the much asked, as Facebook rolls out support for Google's AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) as an extension to its open source Instant Articles Software Development Kit (SDK).

The new SDK through the new extension will allow publishers to create content publishable as Instant Articles, AMP and, soon, Apple News articles.

The updated SDK will use the same markup that publishers use to create Instant Articles to build contents for these new formats. "With an easy way to get from one markup format to another, publishers can then plug-and-play the markup in their content management systems or third party publishing tools," writes the team.

In addition, the SDK will also allow publishers to apply custom styling templates in AMP and Apple News, created by them in the Instant Articles Style Editor —as an example "the custom formats, like fonts, colors and captions, that publishers have designed in the Style Editor, will be closely mirrored in the other formats," facebook explained.

The SDK extension for Google AMP is now available. And, for Apple News will be ready in the coming weeks.

You can downlload the SDK and extension, or check out the documentation for details on how to use the extension.
