Microsoft offers a number of different mitigation technologies that’re designed to make it more difficult for an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in a given piece of software. To help on this front, Microsoft released a new utility called “Enhanced Mitigation Evaluation Toolkit (EMET),” which’s primarily focused on providing an extensible framework that’ll have future mitigations added to it. A total of four mitigations’re also being included with this release, here’s a quick list: Structured Exception Handling (SEH), Data Execution Prevention (DEP), NULL page allocation, Heap spray allocation
