US Department of Defense has signed a new three year software contract with Microsoft Windows 8 of worth $617 million. The press release stated:

"Under the agreement, the Army, Air Force and DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) can begin using the newest versions of Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office 2013, SharePoint 2013 and Windows 8, officials said, adding that Office 2013 provides enhanced security and content management tools.The package has been customized to meet the specific security needs of the Defense Department," the press release stated.

Also, Microsoft just announced that those who are running any pre-release versions of Visual Studio 2012 or Team Foundation Server 2012-note, that "the software will stop working on January 15, 2013 and cannot be extended."

"You can check your Visual Studio 2012 development environment by clicking on Help -> About and inspecting the version. If you see Beta or Release Candidate (RC) you'll need to upgrade to RTM (or Update 1, which is the newest post-RTM release)," wrote Brin Keller.

Pre-release version of Visual Studio 2012 and Team Foundation Server 2012 expires on January 15, 2012

System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 has now arrived for TechNet and MSDN subscribers.

Per December 20, 2012, TechNet and MSDN subscribers can download System Center 2012 with ServicePack 1 in the following packages and it includes following new features:
