Stage6 was, an online video community, a subsidary of DivX, to search, watch and share high-quality video content in the Stage6 video community. The site offered to upload, host, and deliver their videos more easily, in a better-looking format, with advanced features such as menus, subtitles, and multiple audio tracks. The content owners were allowed to sell their videos and get paid.
Following an exploration of strategic options that began in July 2007, the Company ceased operation of the site in February 2008.
gHacks reports, that DivX, the company behind Stage6, announced that would relaunch the service on April 29th, and this would be called “Divxit” with a new homepage. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot to discover right now. Servers and GUI seem to be online already and the Divxit Core converter nears completion which seems to be the last step before the portal goes live.
