Upgrading their LG notebook to Windows 7 has left some customers scrambling for new batteries. Microsoft has confirmed that "After you upgrade to Windows 7 on certain LG notebooks, the Windows Battery Meter displays the following warning message: Consider replacing your battery. This warning is displayed even if a new battery is inserted into the laptop," in KB981200.
Microsoft says "This problem occurs because of a code defect in the system firmware (BIOS) of some LG notebooks. These include the R500 family of notebooks."
