Bing Maps now serving real-time traffic flow data in 55 countries, and uses this traffic flow data in two ways: first to “provide real-time and predictive route calculations”, and second, “a traffic overlay of color coded roads on the map to indicate real-time flow of traffic,” writes the Maps team.
All these interactive controls in Bing Maps provide an option to overlay real-time traffic flow data on top of the map. However, v8 of Bing Maps Web Control provides this functionality through Traffic module.
Additionally, point based traffic incident data is available in 35 countries including car accidents and construction.
To access traffic incident data, you can use Bing Maps interactive controls, or directly through Bing Maps REST Services Traffic API, as well as through the Traffic Data Soruce in the Bing Spatial Data Services.
A complete list of countries in which traffic data is available can be found here.
