Best Buy employee accused of shopping with customers’ credit cards

A former Las Cruces Best Buy employee Amanda Hopkins was indicted by the grand jury Thursday on charges of felony credit card fraud. The alleged incidents took place between October of 2007 and April 2008 and involved six Best Buy customers’ credit accounts. The grand jury indicted Amanda Hopkins on three counts of fraudulent usee of a credit card over $2,500, a third-degree felony and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $500, a fourth-degree felony.

Hopkins was also indicted on more than 20 counts of fraudulent signing of a Credit card slip, and one count of disposing of stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. The items purchased included televisions, computers, video games, cell phones, iPods, DVD movies and other electronic items said officials.
