Microsoft is ready to release a beta of its Windows Phone "Mango" mobile operating system update to testers, as soon as this week -- possibly by June 22 or 23. As, the company lifted the embargo yesterday on "Mango", various websites around the internet started giving an in-depth review, reportedly using the production devices given out by Microsoft for review purposes.
Based on the latest reviews, the devices given out by Microsoft for reviewers carries the build number 7.661.WP7_5_Trial (mojobld).20110607-1957. However, this build doesn't yet support Twitter integration in the People hub, neither is full SkyDrive integration supported.
If you're a developer who wants/needs access to next-generation hardware that Mango will support (with additions like gyroscopes), you'll have to contact your local evangelist and lobby to be one of the chosen few who'll get loaner test devices.
Brandon Watson, the Director of Developer Experience for Windows Phone, just tweeted that the "reviews are the only thing happening this week." So, maybe we are back to next week being the date for the beta availability of Mango.
