Alex Kochis, Windows Genuine guru at Microsoft announced that he was leaving the company at the end of the past year. Dec 31st was Alex Kochis’ last day with the software giant. “While I’m leaving Microsoft I don’t intend to leave anti-piracy space. Those of you who follow the subject are likely to see me pop up in future under my own shingle,” he stated. Kochis, as director of Genuine Windows, led the efforts designed to curb antipiracy of Windows operating system. It was Genuine Windows group responsible for killing two most prominent Windows Vista cracks “OEM BIOS and Grace Timer hacks”. Back in July 2009, Kochis also curb the piracy attempt, “when a leaked OEM SLP master product key was used as a part of the first crack for Windows 7 RTM Build 6.1.7600.16385 Ultimate. Kochis revealed that the key used to circumvent Windows 7’s antipiracy technology was blacklisted”.
