Google in the next few weeks, will be migrating AdWords campaigns that only use the features exposed by “Standard” campaigns, to the “Standard” type.
“This does not affect how your campaigns serve at all, but it will greatly simplify the set of features that you see when you are using AdWords to manage these campaigns. If you want to change your campaign types back to “All Features,” the migration is easily reversible. Simply go into your campaign settings, and under “Type” you can choose the campaign type you feel best suits your needs,” explains AdWords team.
In June 2013, Google had simplified the process of setting up and managing AdWords campaigns, by allowing to select a campaign type that best fits the advertisers needs.
“All campaigns created before we added these options were defaulted to “All features.” If you are not utilizing any of the advanced features in AdWords, we will migrate your campaign type to “Standard”, which provides a simpler AdWords experience. Note that this change, if appropriate, will happen only for campaigns which are classified “Search Network only” or “Search and Display networks”,” Google wrote.
As a part of this release, “we are making the API available to everyone without requiring an invitation,” Google adds.
Visual representations of the IMA SDK / Video Player integration are now available.
Both the diagrams the “Basic SDK Interaction Diagram” and the “SDK-Player Interaction Diagram,” illustrate the actions that occur once your video player is fully integrated with the v3 IMA SDK–are available within the left-hand navigation of the IMA SDK documentation under Resources and are linked to directly from within the IMA HTML5 SDK and IMA Flash SDK Working with Ads pages.
These diagrams outline both:
- “the high level interactions that take place among the IMA SDK, DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), AdSense for Video (AFV), Ad Exchange (AdX) and any third party ad servers
- the more detailed communications that take place between the IMA SDK and your video player,” explains Google.
Google also made available localized documentation for IMA SDK v3. To view the localized edition of the latest documentation, be sure to select the desired language from the menu in the footer of any page.
Update: AdWords Product Extensions will be sunsetting from the campaign set-up flow on May 20th. Google eventually let product extensions be outrun by Product Listing Ads. The announcement was noticed in the AdWords agency newsletter.
“When Google launched PLAs, product extensions were reduced to a less-than-compelling line of text and price,” notes Geddes.
In other developers news, Google is offering tips for Tablet optimization in Google Play Developers Console that lets devs quickly see how their app is doing against basic guidelines for tablet app distribution and quality.
“When you upload an app, the Developer Console now runs a series of checks to verify basic criteria from the Tablet App Quality Checklist and shows you any issues it finds in the Optimization Tips page. If you’re developing for tablets, make sure to visit your Optimization Tips page to ensure that your app is delivering a great tablet experience,” google wrote.
Google App Engine is releasing today “object change notification” as a preview feature, allowing you to monitor your Google Cloud Storage buckets for new, modified, or deleted objects, using a subscription to a webhook you provide.
“Now your application can be automatically triggered when an important change happens and start processing data immediately. We’ve also updated gsutil with a notifyconfig command,” informs Google.
In addition, an update to the Cloud Storage JSON API, bringing it into parity with the existing XML API, including exposing new methods such as Copy and Compose.
