Previous post revealed that you only need 2 (not 5) PCs to qualify for Microsoft Volume Licensing. In this post, we learn another trick on meeting that initial 5 license minimum to start a new Open License Agreement if initial purchase falls short of "quantity 5 needed". Say that you’re a company with just two PCs and want to order OLs for both PCs and one or two Windows Upgrades for those computers. This give you total 3 or 4 licenses, depending on if you did 'one or two Windows upgrades'. This leaves you short of 5 license minimum for OL, here’s what you can do: • Download Microsoft Open Business Estimated Retail Price List • Go to Microsoft Partner Portal • Click on “Licensing” tab • Under “Making Licensing choices” in left-hand navigation bar, click “U.S. Retail Price Lists” • Click “Open Business” and download it • Once you open OB ERP List Excel sheet up, click “ERP Price” column (See 2nd image) • Sort in reverse order “A->Z” or “Smallest to Largest” depending on whether you choose to sort using “Sort” function in your ribbon bar or by right-clicking column and using drop down menu (See 2nd image) • Look for first item with “Standard” or “License/Software Assurance Pack” listed in “Product Type” column. In current month’s U.S. OB RP List, first “Standard” item you’ll come up with is Part #: BRE-00129, which’s an Office Mobile license and ERP price for this SKU is $8.00.
