Office Mobile for iPhone for Office 365 Subscribers

Microsoft rolls out 'Office for iPhone' including a mobile-optimized Word, Excel and PowerPoint for iOS users with Office 365 Home and ProPlus subscription--enabling access, view, and edit Office docs, similar to preinstalled on Windows Phone 8.

Office Mobile for iPhone at "no extra charge" is live on the Apple App Store, but only for "Office 365 Home Premium", and or, "Office 365 ProPlus" subscribers.

Similar to free preinstalled Office Mobile for Windows Phone 8, the iPhone app enables great Office content viewing and on-the-go content editing capabilities, as well as ability to keep all your content and formatting intact so the document still looks great when you're back on your PC or Mac.

The new Office for iPhone comes with mobile versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

"This is very much optimized for small screens," said Chris Schneider, Marketing Manager with Microsoft's Office Division, adding he said Microsoft's guidance for users who want Microsoft Office on the iPad remains that they should use Office Web Apps -- the versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint that Microsoft has optimized for use in a variety of Web browsers.

""Office for iPhone" is pretty simple and does the job if you want Office capabilities on your iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. You can have Office for iPhone on up to five iPhones and having a trial subscription for Office 365 will still allow you to use Office for iPhone. After signing in to an Office 365 account, "you can access, view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents from anywhere"."

"To sign-in you can either use a Microsoft Account associated with your Office 365 subscription or your Organization Account if you're using Office 365 at work. You can access all your cloud storage places, for example SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro, after you sign-in."

"To activate Office on multiple iPhones, you would first sign in with your Microsoft Account on each device to activate Office Mobile on that device. Then you'll "reset Office" to remove your account information and allow your other member to sign in with their Microsoft Account for Office Mobile to become customized for each person," Microsoft explains.

Q: Does Office Mobile work on iPad?

A: We built Office Mobile for iPhone to ensure a great Office experience when using a small screen device, similar to Office Mobile for Windows Phone. If you have an iPad, we recommend using Office Web Apps that provide the best Office experience on a tablet. We have made great enhancements to Office Web Apps including an improved touch experience for tablet users.

Like all iPhone apps, Office Mobile can work on iPad, either small or "2X" scaled up, but you'll have a more satisfying experience using Office Web Apps.
