Chrome Beta iOS Now Support Google Cloud Print or AirPrint - Malaysia Gone Google

Chrome 27 promoted to the Beta channel for Android, iPhone and iPad. Malaysia adopts Google Apps and Chromebooks to the classroom nationwide.

Chrome Beta for Android, iPhone and iPad version 27.0.1453.49 contains a number of great new updates--now web pages can display in fullscreen on phones, which is especially handy on smaller screens.

"As you scroll down a web page and immerse yourself in the content, the top toolbar disappears. When you scroll up, the toolbar returns so you can get on to the next thing," informs Google.

In addition, Chrome for iOS, now lets you print from Chrome to printers enabled with Google Cloud Print or AirPrint, as well as "save a page to Google Cloud Print."

And, Chrome Beta for Android, now provide simpler and more efficient browsing--as you can now see your search terms in the omnibox, instead of the long search URL and the in-page Google search box.

This frees up room to view more search results and makes it easier to change your search terms.

Also, you can now see your data savings from the experimental data compression feature introduced in the last Beta update in March this year. Now, this release onwards, you can go to "Bandwidth Management" in Settings and enable "Reduce Data Usage," and you're all set.

Additionally, Google has also added plenty of under-the-hood stability, security improvements and bug fixes.

Here is a full list of features in this released:

  • Fullscreen on phones - Scroll down the page and the toolbar will disappear.
  • Simpler searching - Searching from the omnibox will keep your search query visible in the omnibox, making it easier to edit, and show more on your search result page.
  • Client-side certificate support - You can now access sites that require you to use a certificate and Chrome will allow you to select an installed certificate
  • Tab history on tablets - Long press the browser back button to view your tab history
  • Known Issues:
  • Noticeable lag in text entry on some text fields
  • chrome://history sometimes show duplicate items
  • Opening tabs is sometimes slow
  • Pages may flicker sometimes, especially during navigation

Google has also released an Dev Channel update for Chrome OS. Now, at version 27.0.1453.46 (Platform version: 3912.23.0) for all Chromebooks, this build contains a number of bug fixes and feature enhancements:

  • "Updated Pepper Flash to version 11.7.700.169-r2, resolving some issues with video playback quality
  • Volume bubble no longer displayed on login (225531)
  • Fixes for network connection error notifications (224676)
  • Updated Chrome Office Viewer extension," informs Google.

In other Chrome related news, Malaysia has adopted Google Apps for 10 million students, teachers and parents as well as the conuntry is now deploying Chromebooks to primary and secondary schools nationwide.

These efforts to integrate the web are a central part of a national plan (PDF) to reform its educational system.

Google notes, that to date, more than 3,000 schools worldwide, from Edina, Minnesota to Point England, New Zealand, have deployed Chromebooks to improve attendance and graduation rates, make learning more fun and enable students to take more ownership for their learning.
