Flickr app for iPhone and iPod touch, and number of new features for web making it easier to capture, share, and discover photos across the platforms.

Flickr notes that it now has over 8 billion photos have been uploaded to Flickr to date.

The new app also includes many of the best Flickr.com features, including editing and managing photos, making them accessible wherever you are, and lets you discover billions of interesting photos from around the world.

The new Flickr iPhone App

  • The new built-in editor let you quickly correct, crop, or enhance photo once captured using the new app with one of the new high res filters.
  • Share simultaneously via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or email.
  • Upload unlimited photos from your camera roll, add your photos to groups and sets, add a venue from Foursquare and tag people--with all the quality of the original photo preserved.
  • Tilt your phone to the side and you'll see the photo in full screen. As you pinch to zoom in, the photo will stay sharp and crisp. When you find something you like, you can comment on and favorite photos with a single tap.
  • You can always see where and how a photo was taken, which sets and groups it belongs to, and who is tagged.
  • New Contacts view, made it easy to discover photos from your friends or favorite photographers. It's fast and easy to scroll through your contacts and feel like you were there for your friend's recent road trip or see the world through the lenses of the photographers you follow.
  • View the photos, connect with people and upload your own images to the Flickr Groups of your interest.

The company also given Flickr.com a fresh coat of paint, redesigning the navigation, and updating new Explore page to display even more photos in a beautiful new layout.

"Our new nav bar was designed to make browsing Flickr faster and easier so you can quickly get to the photos you love. While we removed many of the old blue links, we made sure that you're still able to access most of your favorite features right from the nav bar," flickr wrote.

And, the new Explore page seamlessly lets you view some of "the most interesting photos added in the last 24 hours or go back in time to see amazing photos from the past."
