Bing Translator Windows Phone 8 app now available through Windows Phone App Store will let users discover a new translator "lens" whenever you launch your camera - allowing you to quickly access the camera mode translation functionality of the app.

"Combining Augmented Reality Translation using your camera, speech & text translation, word-of-the-day live tiles and a travel optimized offline mode the app has received rave reviews and has been highlighted as one of the most innovative translation apps on any platform," the company adds.

Microsoft also revealed that the Bing Translator app "surpasses a million downloads and garner average ratings between 4 and 5 stars since release."

Also, in a new Windows Phone television advertisement video, Microsoft shows off the Live Tiles feature. And, said that its Meet Your Matchchallenge live in malls all over the world and in Microsoft Stores, "videos have racked up over 300,000 views so far."

In the video, Microsoft's Ben Rudolph "convinces" one man to not purchase the iPhone 5, since it cannot do what the Windows Phone can. He even mentions that the iPhone is centered around apps and that it isn't as convenient as the WP platform when it comes to staying in touch with others. "Which phone is a better match for staying in touch with the people you care about most?" Microsoft asks.

Windows Phone 8 update "Apollo Plus" to bring bug fixes and new features

A report is indicating that Microsoft will be releasing a "Apollo update" to Windows Phone 8, dubbed as "Apollo Plus," this update will be a "minor: that adds bug fixes and a few new features to make the platform complete.

Microsoft had earlier stated that they "ran out of time" when developing Windows Phone 8. The update will bring VPN support to Windows Phone 8, to let corporate users to connect to work systems. A Microsoft official said that they decided instead to rely on things like Secure SSL to address this need... as they considered Secure SSL "a better, light-weight approach" to providing this kind of functionality in the new BYOD (bring your own device) world.

Apollo + will also come with a WiFi connection fix as well as audio enhancements.

In addition, Apollo Plus will also be the first Windows Phone update to be delivered over the air (OTA) as announced earlier.

Microsoft said to be officially revealing Apollo Plus during the Mobile World Congress in February of 2013.

Finally, it is Windows Phone 7.8 is coming in December, according to a Nokia spokesperson Sergey Rudenko. This news comes from the Microsoft Teched Russia 2012 keynote, which is being streamed LIVE.

Update 11/29: Windows Phone 7.8 update hitting devices early 2013, Microsoft just officially confirmed stating, "We know you're eager to get the Windows Phone 7.8 update, and we want you to know that we're working closely with our hardware and carrier partners to get it tested, approved, and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013."

Adding, Windows Phone 7.8 will bring the new Start screen, alongside resizable Live Tiles providing faster access to more of my favorite people, photos, and apps.

In addition, WP7.8 also doubles the number of theme and accent colors to 20, and also include: new lock screen features: the option to automatically display the Bing Picture of the Day plus the "A1B2C3" PIN/password challenge to prevent accidental device wipes on phones connected to Exchange accounts.
