Google' new bulk editing features in the AdWords interface released to a limited number of AdWords advertiers today -- enable them to more quickly and easily make large-scale changes across their entire account.
"With bulk editing, you'll be able to preview changes before you apply them. If you're making a lot of changes, they'll run in the background. That means you can leave the page and do other things in your account (or even log out entirely!) while bulk changes are in progress. A progress bar lets you know how close your changes are to completion. You can review your changes after they're done," explains Google.
In addtion to bulk editing, you might also notice a few changes to buttons and menus -- "the "Edit" button will become an "Edit" drop-down menu," Google said.
Also, Google will be phasing out the "Edit in table" view "since its multi-item editing capabilities will be far surpassed. Now when making a change to an individual campaign element, you can just click on it to enter editing mode," Google added.
Below is a summary of the changes you'll be able to make:
and, here's an example of how easy it is to change "Road bike" to "Commuter bike" in over 25,000 ads with a single click.
Also, DoubleClick Search (DS) November 5 release now available and includes the launch of automated rules, creation of ad templates for inventory rules directly in the UI, and the ability to include dynamic parameters in destination URLs.
"Automated rules let you schedule changes to specific ads and keywords based on criteria you specify. This is yet another feature that enables DS to work on your campaigns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You set up the conditions, specify the action if the conditions are met, and set up a schedule for when you want the rule to run. Then let DS do all of the work!," the DS team stated.
Ad templates in the UI. You can now create ad templates for your inventory rules directly in the UI, instead of having to upload them. These templates allow you to generate ad copies with inventory account parameters.
"To create an ad template in the DS UI, navigate to a campaign or ad group and click the new Ad templates tab, which appears next to Inventory rules," the team explined.
Dynamic parameters in destination URLs can now be added when creating or editing a keyword. "These parameters will be correctly copied over to the clickserver links. You'll also now see the full URLs, including dynamic parameters, in the Landing page and Clickserver URL columns," the team said.
For example: www.example.com/subpage/?KWNM=[*searchterm*]&KWID=[*KeywordID*]
