Microsoft begun accepting pre-orders of Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 PCs starting today! "You can now reserve a packaged DVD of the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $69.99 USD ERP (U.S.) at select retailers," Micorosoft announced in a blog post.

When you receive your copy of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade, you'll see a refreshed packaging, in the reimagining of Windows. "We moved to paper based materials (the exception of course being the upgrade DVD inside) which allowed us to make an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption," Microsoft adds.

And we've reduced the packaging weight by 41%.

Those, who wait until October 26 General Availability will be able to upgrade online via Windows.com using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant for $39.99 USD ERP. "This upgrade promotion for Windows 8 Pro both online and at retail runs only through to January 31st, 2013," Microsoft stated.

"Online upgrade to Windows 8 Pro is supported for 140 countries worldwide, with 37 languages, and 23 supported currencies!"

In addtion to Windows 8, the company is also now accepting pre-order of the new Windows 8 PCs and devices from OEM partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Samsung and Sony.

Those who purchase (or have already purchased) an eligible Windows 7 PC anytime between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 will be able to purchase an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for U.S. $14.99 USD ERP which will be redeemable starting October 26th.

To install Windows 8 Pro, customers must be running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
