Update 09/30: "Twitter's Discover" that bring essential information from the web introduced last December -- today gets some improvements "now, when you visit the Discover tab on twitter.com, you'll see a continuous stream of Tweets, which automatically expand to show you the most relevant stories and most engaging photos," the comapny announced in a blog post.

Also, this May, Twitter added stronger signals and a new design to Discover that made it more personal for you with better stories and Tweets from people you know.

Update 09/28: Twitter is opening up its contents on search pages to search engines, recently company has updated its robots.txt file, and the changes opens up its millions of search pages to Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex and other bots to crawl through, reports Sociable.

Until the changes happen Twitter had prevented its search pages from being indexed.

Twitter's current Robots.txt file reads:

Allow: /search
Disallow: /search/users
Disallow: /search/*/grid

Disallow: /*?
Disallow: /*/with_friends

Twitter confirmed the change stating: "This change will help people find popular and helpful Twitter pages, such as the #olympics hashtag page (https://twitter.com/search/?q=%23olympics)."

Following the people you know makes Twitter a more personal way to discover essential information. To help user in this end, the microblogging service today introducing a new email "People you may know" that makes it easier to connect with friends, classmates and co-workers on Twitter.

""People you may know," a weekly email will highlight a handful of people you may know who use Twitter," the company posted. "You can choose to follow any of the suggested people and you can find more people you may know on twitter.com. Suggestions are based on signals like who your friends follow and the contact information imported by people you know," Twitter added.

For example, "if several people you know follow someone, you may also know them and want to follow them too. There's no telling who you might find on Twitter, so open this weekly message for an ongoing source of great accounts to follow," Twitter explain.

Of course, "you can choose whether or not to receive new messages from Twitter in your email notification settings."
