Facebook for BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry Jam Americas, at San Jose, California, for developers that started on Tuesday September 25, CEO Thorsten Heins demonstrated its vision for BlackBerry 10.

Heins told attendees we're at the start of a new era in mobile computing. "We are expanding beyond traditional mobile communications, NFC, mobile social media, as well as collaboration in the enterprise," he said. "And we want to leverage what you do, and give you an expanded platform to build upon."

BlackBerry 10 is designed to make you more productive and more efficient. At the core of BlackBerry 10 is the idea of "Flow," that lets you move easily from task to task. It lets you check in on your conversations, wherever they may be. It doesn't get in your way. Gone are home buttons and the need to exit an app to open a new one.

Heins revealing that BlackBerry Messenger, has over 60 million users on Facebook and tens of millions using other social platforms will grow BB10 -- as it will bring all these conversations together in the BlackBerry Hub allowing you to easily move from conversation to conversation with the swipe of one finger.

"Whether checking in on your conversations in the new BlackBerry Hub or cycling between open apps, BlackBerry 10 is designed to enhance your busy life, not slow you down. It is designed to keep you moving."

In this video, Vivek Bhardwaj from the product team provide an in-depth demo of Flow.

The company also showed BlackBerry 10 browser, "designed to give customers fluid navigation, solid performance, a robust feature set and the ability to easily share information." It's also "designed with safety and security in mind, as mobile users are accessing more and more private information online, like their finances," company stated.

Here's Matthew Staikos showing off BlackBerry 10 browser on latest developer hardware prototype model, the BlackBerry Dev Alpha B. Check out what he did with the camera in the browser:

Attendees also got a sneak peek at all-new BlackBerry App World storefront. "BlackBerry 10 will have more than just games and apps available on BlackBerry App World -- users will also have access to music and videos, all using a single BlackBerry ID."

There's also a "new BlackBerry App World for work as part of the BlackBerry Balance technology in BlackBerry 10," which makes it easy for organizations to deploy and recommend apps for their employees, added BlackBerry.
