Samsung Drive Link, is an innovative in-car smartphone application designed for safe use while driving include listening to music, navigating to a destination and talking hands-free.

Drive Link is currently avilable on Galaxy S III (GT-I9300), Samsung says it' ll be made available on other Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) devices in the near future.

It also includes shortcuts to other useful driving applications that have also met exacting safety certification standards.

Samsung Drive Link In-car app: Welcome Screen

"Upon loading the App, the user is presented with a welcome screen displaying time and weather information for the current location. Upcoming appointments saved in S Calendar are also displayed and, if they contain address information, a link is displayed and set directly as the destination. It also navigation functionality using the smartphone's GPS features. If a text message with address information is received while using the App, users can set the address as their destination with just a single click on the text," Samusung said.

  • "If present, Drive Link can connect smartphones to a car's In-Vehicle Infotainment system, or head unit, via MirrorLink.
  • In terms of entertainment, every music file stored in the smartphone is accessible to be played through the car's speaker system.
  • Users can also go well beyond their music libraries with TuneIn (requiring version 6.2 or later), a global Internet Radio app.
  • And, "Text-To-Speech," enables all incoming messages, emails and updates from social media websites to be automatically read via the car's speaker system.
  • All personal contacts saved in the phone are loaded to Drive Link and users can also make a phone call directly by dialing on the keypad," Samsung adds.

The app is downloadable from Samsung Apps in 21 countries starting today.

Samsung also today, made available Galaxy S 3, in a new collection of colours: Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey.

Samsung Windows 8 All-In-One PCs - Series 5, Series 7

Samsung today unveiled Windows 8-based all-in-one PC, which will be avilable in two models: the Series 7, and a cheaper Series 5 all-in-one PC.

"Series 5, will cost $749 and has 21.5 inch screen, an Intel Core i3 processor, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB of hard drive storage."

And, the Series 7 models will have 23 inch and 27 inch touch screens with a 1080p resolution.

Series 7 23-inch model priced at $1,099 will have an Intel Core i5 CPU, 6 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD and an Intel Graphics 4000 GPU.

Series 7 27-inch model priced at $1,699 and will have a faster Core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD and an AMD Radeon HD 7850M GPU.

All the three AIO's will have two USB 3.0 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI port and some kind of media readers.

Samsung S launcher for Windows 8 coming to All-in-one PCs, is a simple widget that acts just like the old start button: Click, start typing (say "keyboard") and it instantly shows you the settings and apps that relate to your term.

Simply drag apps or files to it for easy access, tossing them off when you don't want them anymore.

There's also a separate settings icon for quick access to the most commonly needed controls. "Windows 8 moves your computer settings to different places, and Samsung's custom settings saves you the trouble of finding out where. It gathers many everyday controls -- including user accounts, power management, display settings and sound -- into one spot on the desktop."

Samsung also today announced that its Windows 8 tablets would be called "ATIV Tab" (GT-P8510).

The branding was first posted on official Samsung Twitter handle.

Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 unveiled today comes with a 5.8-inch (960x540 pixel) screen, 1GB RAM, front-facing speakers, a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0, powered by a 2,500mAh battery.

The Galaxy Player 5.8 avilable in 16GB and 32GB model runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) out-of-the-box together with TouchWiz interface.

The Galaxy Player 5 costs around $200, the Nexus 7 starts at $200 for the 8GB model and the 3,5 inch iPod Touch also sells for $200, so it's interesting to see if Samsung lowers the prices of the current Galaxy Player range to get around the $200 price tag, or that the company feels the big screen and the high-capacity battery is worth the extra money.
