Google Search Settings Saving

For those, who have personlized search preferences, may know the annoyance of setting them across the devices the next time you search on Google--well no more--as Google added a new ability to save search settings in a way that provides a more consistent search experience aross the devices.

"To get the same search settings on any computer, save your search settings to your Google Account," Google said.

"Now you can save your search settings, such as your language preference or having Google Instant on or off, to your Google Account, enabling you to search with your preferences wherever you're logged in, even if you're searching across different browsers or computers," Google announced.

Saving settings to your account is especially helpful if any of the following is true:

  • You use multiple computers or browsers
  • You share a computer with friends, family members, or co-workers who prefer to use distinct search settings
  • You use a private browsing mode (like incognito mode on Google Chrome) that clears cookies upon exit
  • You, or specific programs on your computer, frequently clear your browser's cookies

You can save your search preferences for your Google Account at https://www.google.com/preferences.

To get the same search settings on any mobile device, save your search settings to your Google Account. Currently, the SafeSearch filter and language preference settings can be saved and synced on your desktop computer and mobile device via your Google Account.

To get saved search settings, regardless of which computer or browser you're using, follow these steps:

  1. "Click the Sign in button in the top righthand corner of the search results page to sign in to your Google Account.
  2. Click the gear icon gear icon in the top right corner of any search results page.
  3. Select Search settings. (You can also visit the page directly at google.com/preferences.)
  4. Customize your search settings.
  5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your search settings to your account," Google explains.
