Touch Editing in Office Web Apps on Windows touch devices and iPad, and iOS

Micosoft in another blog post introduced Touch Editing to Office Web Apps and Office 365 Previews on Windows 8 devices and iPad.

Touch bring the full-fledged capabilities of viewing and editing in the Office Web Apps, and on Office 365 Preview to tablets and browsers that support touch, including IE on Windows 8 touch devices, and mobile Safari on iOS, and the iPad.

"When you are on a touch device, Office Web Apps will display the fixed user interface in touch mode by default . You can change this mode to use the user interface with a mouse by toggling the "Touch mode" button. The Touch Mode button appears in the Quick Access Toolbar on the top left in the Office Web Apps, allowing you to toggle between the touch and precision / mouse mode," Microsoft wrote.

Exchange Online Archiving (EOA), which is now a part of the Office 365 services. Microsoft just notified of tranistioning of existing Exchange Hosted Archive (EHA) service customers to Office 365.

"We will ensure you have transparency before, during, and after the transition and that your organization's precious data is migrated without loss. Until the last EHA customer is migrated to Office 365, we will continue to run the service to meet and exceed our SLA with you," wrote the Exchange team.

Microsoft also explained how to "Activating the Community Site Feature," by just visiting the Site Settings page "you can choose Manage site features and activate the Community Site Feature."

This will add the four community pages (Home, Categories, Members, and About) along with all the community Web Parts to your site.

"The key difference between the Community Feature and a Community Site is that only Community Sites will appear in the Community Portal. Sites with the Community Feature activated will also not use the community result template in search. The community functionality will be exactly the same," Microsoft explained.

Exchange Online Protection Reporting Workbook available from DownloadCenter provides a way to view messaging traffic data and message detail information using the reporting web service.

The application is built as a customized Microsoft Excel workbook and uses Microsoft SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel.

"In the workbook, users fetch the data from the reporting web service, use it to populate a PowerPivot model, use the PowerPivot model data to render charts in Excel, and to provide PivotTable and slicer capabilities," Microsoft stated.

The PivotTable also supports drill through. "This allows you to double-click on a cell in the PivotTable and drill through to the underlying message-level metadata. This message-level data is loaded into a simple table for list, sort, and filter capabilities," Microsoft adds.
