Microsoft Hardware just announced new mouse and keyboards optimized for Windows 8 include Wedge Touch Mouse, Wedge Mobile Keyboard, Sculpt Mouse, and Sculpt Keyboard.

"Optimized for Windows 8, Microsoft's new lineup of mice and keyboards are loaded with features including Bluetooth connectivity, BlueTrack Technology for tracking on virtually any surface giving customers a fast and fluid way to navigate in Windows 8 on desktop, laptop and tablet," Microsoft stated.

Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse

Microsoft's new Wedge Touch Mouse packs full functionality into an ultracompact frame - (small enough to fit in your pocket), and provides four-way touch scrolling and navigation at your fingertips.

Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard for Widows 8

Wedge Mobile Keyboard is designed specifically to be used with tablets. The new ultraslim keyboard brings full-size keyboard comfort, efficiency, speed and it seamlessly connected to my tablet via Bluetooth with no trouble at all.

Wedge Mobile Keyboard includes some of the most commonly used features, such as Windows Hot Keys and built-in media keys.

This keyboard features the new Windows logo as seen in Windows 8 for the Start button - which is an easy way to get back to my Start screen. It also has Windows 8-specific "hot keys" which represent how the apps can work together in Windows 8 charms - Search, Share, Device and Settings. The Wedge Mobile Keyboard also has media keys for volume and playback control.

To protect the keyboard from getting banged up and scratched while on the go, it comes with a durable rubberised cover that sort of "clamps" on to the keyboard at the sides. The cover will also turn the keyboard off when you "clamp" it on, saving the battery, and turns it back on when you take it off.

The cover bends at the middle to be used as a tablet stand.

And, the Bluetooth technology lets you wirelessly connect to your tablet without a cable or transceiver.

The Wedge Mobile keyboard will cost US$79.95 (estimated retail price of U.S.).

Microsoft Sculpt Touch Mouse for Windows 8

Sculpt Touch Mouse is designed to provide comfort matched with portability, and is a great solution for smooth and easy navigation with a Windows 8-based PC. This little mouse also connects to your PC or device via Bluetooth and like the Explorer Touch Mouse, has a four-way touch scroll strip let lets you swipe up and down, left and right through apps and the Start screen in Windows 8.

  • "With a four-way touch scroll strip, you can breeze up and down, left and right, and through applications and documents with a simple finger swipe, making it great for navigating the Windows 8 Start screen.

Sculpt Touch Mouse will be retailed at estimated price of US$49.95.

Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard for Windows 8

Sculpt Mobile Keyboard provides an ideal balance of mobility, comfort and productivity. A full-size keyboard with Microsoft's Comfort Curve design that helps position the hands and wrists to be in a more natural resting position.

Sculpt Mobile Keyboard familiar with the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 5000 has been updated for Windows 8 and it too connects via Bluetooth. It also features Windows 8-specific "hot keys" that helps position the hands and wrists to be in a more natural resting position.

To save battery life, it will power down and go into sleep mode after inactivity.

Microsoft also update its Touch Mouse for Windows 8 with new gesture settings to easily navigate the new UI.

  • Two-finger movements manage apps, switch through open apps and show app commands.
  • Three fingers allow customers to zoom in and out.
  • Thumb gestures navigate backward and forward within apps," Microsoft said.
