Microsoft with Amdocs Software Systems Limited today signed a patent cross-license agreement, that provides mutual access to each company's patent portfolio, including a license under Microsoft's patent portfolio covering Amdocs' use of Linux-based servers in its data centers.
Although specific terms of the agreement are confidential, Microsoft indicated that Amdocs will pay Microsoft an undisclosed amount of money under the agreement.
"This agreement with Amdocs adds to the more than 1,100 patent license agreements Microsoft has entered into over the last decade," said Horacio Gutierrez, cvp and deputy general counsel, Intellectual Property Group at Microsoft.
Adding, "Microsoft's licensing program ensures respect for its world-class intellectual property portfolio while at the same time making available to others the result of its multi-billion dollar annual investment in research and development," he said.
A Swedish retailer today revealed the pricing of the Microsoft Surface Tablets for Windows 8.
Webhallen, currently lists the Windows RT version of the Surface at 6,990 SEK ($1,000 / €830) for the 32GB model, and at 9,990SEK ($1,430 / €1,180) for the 64GB flavor.
The Windows RT Surface is said to be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 ARM processor, while the Windows 8 Pro model should pack an Intel Core i5 x86 chip inside.
The Windows 8 Pro Surface slate, on the other hand, is listed at 12,990SEK ($1,860 / €1,540) for the 64GB version, and at 14,990SEK ($2.150 / €1,780) for the 128GB model.
