Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer opened the Worldwide Partner Conference 2012 by highlighting key product milestones and opportunities for more than 640,000 global partners -- stated, "This will be the biggest product and services launch year in our company's history, creating massive opportunities for our partners to grow their businesses."

Ballmer said, "With Windows -- Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Azure -- and Office 365, there's never been a better time to be a Microsoft partner. The opportunities for us to do amazing things for our joint customers have never been greater."

Kurt DelBene, president of the Microsoft Office Division, announced that "Office is now used by more than a billion people, and Office 365 is on track to be one of the fastest-growing offers in our history." Adding, "Fueling that growth has been Office 2010, the most popular version of Office ever. Worldwide, someone buys a copy of Office 2010 every second."

DelBene also announced two new investments in Office 365 partners:

  • Office 365 Open, a new way for partners to sell Office 365. "It establishes a traditional reseller model, enabling partners to realize more revenue, deliver packaged services with a single invoice, and own the customer relationship," Microsoft stated.
  • Office 365 Advisors Program updates let the most active partners earn more up front with Office 365. Starting today, partners "who sell more than 150 seats are eligible to earn more revenue," Microsoft said.

In an interview, at WPC12, Microsoft vp Doug Kennedy details enhancements in licensing, certification and incentives designed to support and motivate the growth, profitability and differentiation of the Microsoft Dynamics partner channel.

The enhancements will be rolled out over the coming 12 months, with all new programs and requirements in place by July 1, 2013.

Microsoft Dynamics Partners Program Updates : WPC 2012

Here are the highlights of the Microsoft Partner Program Updates - per Microsoft press release:

ERP Enterprise

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX on Enterprise Agreement (EA) in Volume Licensing, available Sept. 1, 2012.
  • Pricing and licensing for Dynamics AX on EA will shift to a pay-for-performance partner incentive model.
  • Technical certification requirements for partners selling Dynamics AX to EA customers will be raised to reflect the increased size and complexity of the target customers.

ERP SMB

  • Simplified pricing for SMB ERP products will be a part of the release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 by the end of 2012.
  • Microsoft will run a pilot for new subscription pricing that applies to both on-premises and Windows Azure and cloud-based deployments. The pilot will provide software in a "pay-as-you-go" model that shifts customers' expense from capital budgets to operating budgets.
  • Microsoft Dynamics Partner Academies will launch a slate of new courses and guidance focused on successfully selling and deploying the integrated Microsoft business solution, including Dynamics ERP, Dynamics CRM and Office 365.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM On-Premises

  • Effective August 2012, the Dynamics CRM On-Premises Custom Support Agreement (CSA) fee will shift to a flat 17 percent for initial License & Software Assurance sales and 5 percent for renewals.
  • Effective July 1, 2013, Dynamics CRM On-Premises will shift to a pay-for-performance partner incentive model.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online

  • Effective August 2012, the 40 percent CSA fee promotion will be replaced with a flat 26 percent CSA fee.
  • Effective July 1, 2013 Dynamics CRM Online will shift to a pay-for-performance partner incentive model.
