Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 8 during the Windows Phone Summit, late last month, now after almost two weeks' later, a couple of Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia started appearing.

Nokia's Remote Device Access (RDA) tools, which developer's use to get access to the latest info on existing hardware revealed Nokia Lumia 910.

Lumia 910 also showed up on a Dutch site with a 12MP camera instead of the normal 8MP on the 900, though nothing ever came of it.

Right after 910, Nokia device popedup in the RDA called "Nokia Lumia 1001."

The Lumia 910 was proposed to be a variant of the Lumia 900, a Windows Phone 7.x device destined for T-Mobile. The Lumia 1001 is speculated as a next-gen Windows Phone 8 device.

Clearly the ""1000" mark is directly related to the series system that Nokia has in place where the higher the number (by 100's) the more high-end e.g. compare the Lumia 610 to the Lumia 900," said wpcentral. Nokia had last year switched to a "larger-is-better" numerical naming scheme, with their most premium handsets getting high model numbers.

That being said, Nokia is surely working on some Windows Phone 8 hardware behind closed doors, in preparation for the platform's launch later this year.

Nokia's Remote Device Access tool allows developers to connect to a set of Nokia devices remotely from within a browser, aimed to allow them to test their application codes on real devices without actually owning one. Given that all these devices are sitting somewhere in Nokia's lab, developers are able to use the Bluetooth functions of these phones to detect the presence of other phones in close proximity. Once in, you can send commands to allow you to pull down info from Nokia's servers and this is exactly how the Nokia Lumia 910 and 1001 were discovered.
