After unveiling, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Nexus 7 and Nexus Q Sphere, Google today also announced that more than 250 million people have upgraded to its social networking service Google+, and today also rolle out two major updates: Google+ for tablets, and Google+ Events.

Google+ for tablets app rolling out to Android phones and tablets today at v3.0, the iPad update will be made released later. The Google+ tablets app includes:

  • A beautiful stream that styles content based on popularity, type and orientation
  • A "lean back" Hangouts experience that's great for the couch or common room
  • Crisper text, fuller photos and easily-tappable actions like +1 and comment

Google+ Events offers meaningful ways to build and send beautiful invitations. Just get the right look for the occasion with one of the beautiful, animated themes found under the "Featured" themes section. Or, give your invite a personal touch by creating your own theme from a picture on your phone, computer or one of your Google+ albums.

  • Cinemagraphic themes for your beach trip, weekend brunch, or baseball game (and a whole lot more)
  • The ability to attach a personalized video greeting from YouTube
  • Unique animations that make your invites a joy to receive

Google+ Events you've created or have been invited to appear in your Google Calendar automatically, and guests' updates arrive instantly in the stream. The end result is a useful and beautiful place to manage your party. When replying or creating an event in Google+, you can check your schedule right from the event invitation.

When creating a Google+ event, you can check your Google Calendar to make sure you pick the best time to party. Google+ events also sync to your mobile device's calendar, so you can have them handy when you are on the go.

In week and day views in Calendar, you'll recognize Google+ Events by the event owner's profile picture. When you click to expand the event in Calendar, it displays a beautiful theme and allows you to set reminders, see other guests, and respond to the event.

Clicking "View on Google+" takes you to the event page, where you can exchange comments with other guests, view photos, and more.

Share photos live with Party Mode
Party Mode lets you share pictures and videos you take during an event instantly with everyone at the party. With the Google+ Android app installed, you'll have the option to turn on Party Mode when an event you're attending starts.

Once you've enabled Party Mode on your mobile device, all of your new photos get added to the event in real-time. And as more guests turn on Party Mode, more pictures will instantly appear to fellow invitees. In this way Google+ Events gives your party a visual pulse; we've even added a "live slideshow" you can proudly project during the event.

See everyone's pictures in one place
With Google+ Events you can now relive the party whenever you want, with a captivating and comprehensive set of photos.

Everybody going to the event can share photos to one single photo collection. Photos can be added in real time during the event using Party Mode, or afterwards on the event page or from any album page.

Just visit your event page after it's over, and you'll see everyone's pictures and comments in chronological order. You can also browse by popularity, photographer or photo tag with a few clicks. It's easy, immersive and awesome.

Schedule your next Hangout
Can't meet up in person? Plan a video chat with your friends ahead of time by selecting the "Google+ Hangout" option when you create an event. When the hangout is scheduled to start everyone will be notified to go to the event page and join the Hangout.
