Nokia just dropped two teaser images of a June 18 media event on its U.S. Facebook page on Friday - same day Microsoft is also holding a press event in Los Angeles. If you look at the pictures - it's definitely something releated to music.
The first picture below shows a World map, with a marker on the Hawaii, which happens to have the area code 808:
….and the second picture below shows a music board combine the two = Cloud Music (it's actually the Roland TR 808 Drum Machine… 808):
AllThingsD speculates, that it is a Nokia's 41-megapixel Pure View camera phone that has a model number as '808'.
Update: This morning Nokia on its U.S. Facebook page posted up yet another image with the same date, but the image also features three circles that are intersecting each other against against a blue background.
Later, in the day, Nokia done with all mysterious dropin's updated its cover image with the one you see right below. And, another post on the Facebook page simply says, "808 reasons to be excited about Monday."
The 808 PureView camera was first revealed in February and launched in other parts of the world later in the year. However, at the time of its announcement, Nokia said the phone would not be released in North America. In May, Nokia's then US head Chris Weber (now the head of sales for all of Nokia) said that the company was working to bring an unlocked version of the 808 PureView to the US.
For those not aware, "PureView is a high-end phone based on Nokia's waning Symbian mobile operating system, rather than Windows Phone. It packs some top-of-the-line features, though. In addition to its super-zoom-capable camera, it has a "rich recording" audio feature that makes it perfect for bootlegging concerts."
Till then…enjoy a Nokia Tivita Windows 8 Tablet:
