Google for past months working improving the look and feel across its producs and services including of Google Custom Search Engine, today, the CSE team has announced of redesinging how the ads are displayed on CSE search results pages to provide users another way to distinguish ads in CSE search result pages.

"With this latest change, the ads section will also have a distinct background color, in keeping with the visual style of ads on the search results page. As, opposed to how ads in CSE results were shown until today, in a separate section from organic search results labeled "Ads by Google"," posted MyLinh Yang, Product Manager.

Because CSE allows you to choose from one of several built-in styles, "the ads background color is different for each style to contrast in a visually appealing way with the default background color," he said.

Note that if you customize the main background color, the ads background color will automatically match it to avoid clashing.

Reporting Changes in Adwords API for news Mobile features

Google announced of making changes to the URL Performance Report and the Automatic Placements Performance Report in v201109 and v201109_1 as the company prepare for the introduction of new mobile capabilities in the AdWords API.

These changes take effect on Monday, July 9th include:

In the URL Performance Report:

  • The Url field format is changing from
    {mobile-app-id}{publisher-id} to
  • We are removing the {publisher-id} from the Url since the {mobile-app-id} rarely gets associated to more than one {publisher-id}.

In the Automatic Placement Performance Report:

  • Statistics for all mobile applications that have been grouped under the Domain will now be broken out by mobile application.
  • The statistics for each mobile app will be at a Domain of the form

Google Apps Domains Adds NicknameManager and GroupsManager Scripts for Administrators

Google also in addition to exisiting UserManager Apps Script service, that allow Google Apps domain administrators to write scripts to programmatically create, delete and edit their user accounts -- today, extends the family of Domain services with two new additions: NicknameManager and GroupsManager.

"The NicknameManager service allows domain administrators to define alternate email addresses (i.e. "nicknames") with a single line of code." And, with, the "GroupsManager service, Google Apps domain administrators can create and delete groups, and manage their members and owners, explains Google.

Google just revealed that last year, YouTube had more than 1 trillion views, or about 140 views for every person on earth.

In order to help more people tune in to the YouTube, the team today, expands the language accessibility by adding "automatic captions" in Spanish.

"Now, when a video has recognizable speech, you'll see a "CC" button appear in the bottom of the player, which will instantly add captions of the video in Spanish. Just look for this icon and click "Transcribe Audio"," Hoang Nguyen, software engineer, said.

"For creators, upload a Spanish transcript with your video and we'll automatically create timecoded captions. You can even download the automatic captions, all from your Video Manager," he said.

The auto-caption feature already available in languages such as English, Japanese and Korean. You'll find auto-captions available on more than 157 million videos, with videos being added every day.

YouTube, streams over 4 billion videos daily, and currently monetized through advertisements and site sponsorships, but the company plans to begin charging users for access to premium content in the near future.

Google's svp of YouTube, Salar Kamangar, during a recent interview with Reuters, ndicated that YouTube is weighing the possibility of selling subscription content to its users.

Although, the company executives are carefully considering offering "a la carte" channels and other subscription content, he said that he has not decided how YouTube will proceed:

"We don't have anything to announce now. It is something that's really important to a lot of our top existing content creators, as well as ones that aren't on YouTube today, so we're talking very seriously, and we're thinking about it very carefully," said Kamangar.

YouTube is also considering making some of the original video programs featured on recently-launched YouTube "channels" available for a fee.

In addition to considering becoming a web-based "a la carte" cable distributor, YouTube has already committed to spend $100 million creating premium television shows and an additional $200 million marketing the new shows and channels. Kamangar said, Google may also charge consumers for the YouTube-produced premium content.
