Microsoft has updated a slew of its native Windows 8 Metro style applications in preparation for the "Release Preview" in early June. The list of updates includes the Mail, Calendar, People and Messaging apps (all as a group), Photos, Reader and Music.
In the web version of the Windows Store, all the applications are listed as updated on May 15th to "support the latest Windows 8 changes," while, the Reader app is listed as version specifically updated for the "Release Preview."
Also, the Photos app entry included several updated screenshots, showing a new home screen, that now features a panoramic background photo, similar to Windows Phone's Pictures hub, and which is believed to be customisable and can be rotated based on Pictures library.
This might also be reflected on the Live Tile for the new Photos app, giving the tile a much more refreshed look. Also, the Photos app now has a thumbnails view.
For those who don't have Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed, and want to have a look at the applications can head over to Windows Store. The Mail, Calendar, People, and Messaging app can be found via this link, the Pictures app is available here, and the Reader can be found on this page.
