Story of Send on Google Green: Follow an emails journey

If you ever wondered what what happens and where your message goes after you hit "send?" How does an email travel from your computer to your friend's smartphone across the country or around the world?

To answere these and other such questions, Google created a new web site entitled "Story of Send," that gives a behind-the-scenes look into how all that virtual information makes its journey through the real world--from your Internet service provider to our data centers and beyond. Also, included videos and photos throughout the journey help you explore certain areas more deeply.

"Along the way, you'll discover everything from where we filter for spam and scan for viruses to how we're minimizing our impact on the environment through energy efficiency and renewable power," Google said.

Think Insights Site Research now comes from 21 countries

In other Google news, the company has just expanded its "Think Insights" website to cover 21 different countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

"Think Insights can help you understand your customers better, develop your digital strategy, find data to support a business case, stay on top of the latest consumer and industry trends and get insights directly from industry thought leaders," Google said.

Here're a few examples of what you can do on the updated site:

  • Access research library of studies and whitepapers from across 21 different countries. You can search for research by country, sector, marketing objective or media type.
  • Use the Insights MENA tool to explore the media habits of consumers in the Middle East and North Africa, or do the same for consumers in Sub-Saharan Africa with our Insights Africa tool.
  • Watch new videos on the consumer journey, with information on behaviors such as "research online, purchase offline" (ROPO).
