With the release of Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 5 for Windows 8 Consumer Preview, the web continues to evolve as the IE10 PP5 now supports 33 new HTML5 & CSS3 site-ready web standards - more than 2.5x more than IE9.

Most of these technologies are hardware accelerated, giving developers the in-browser performance to create web experiences that rival native applications.

This week @ JSConf, Microsoft' s IE team inked a new partnership with Bocoup to make building web games easier for developers using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript with a new site called "BuildNewGames.com."

The site already features technical articles on Animation, Compositing, Graphics, Mobile, SVG, Sprites, Tools, WebSockets. "Over the next few months, the site will feature 50 tutorials ranging from the coding basics of games all the way to how to make money across a range of platforms," Exploring Ie team said.

At the time of launch the following 5 pieces are live:

  • Taming the SVG Beast
  • Evolving WebSockets: A Guide
  • The Mobile Gaming Primer
  • Composite Ops - Your Canvas Utility Belt
  • The Basics of Sprite Animation

"Developers want to be able to write code that works reliably in all modern browsers, including IE10/9, Chrome and Firefox, along with mobile browsers, resulting in a complex test matrix and higher development costs. Through standards bodies leadership and practical learning, Microsoft wants to help Web developers have an easier time targeting various browsers at once, allowing them to concentrate on innovating and delivering an outstanding Web and gaming experience to final users," the team adds.
