Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6 Service Pack 2 Public Beta! released to Microsoft Connect. "The primary focus of this release is to ensure that customers who want to test the Windows 8 Consumer Preview in their environment can do so while also continuing to implement Windows 7," Microsoft informed.

In addition this release will work with both versions.

"Businesses use App-V to eliminate application installs, reduce conflict between applications, and lower IT support costs. Many businesses have made investments in our App-V technology and today they can begin evaluating this latest version with the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, including the Windows Server "8" Beta for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) scenarios."

"By downloading and installing the App-V 4.6 SP2 public beta, you'll be able to use your current App-V virtual applications on the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and also within RDS sessions in the Windows Server "8" Beta. Additionally, you'll be able to package new desktop applications that work on these platforms," explained Microsoft.
