GALAXY S II, Samsung's flagship smartphone device - has achieved 20 million global channel sales in 10 months since its debut in April 2011, company announced in a blog post.

Galaxy S II, a 8.49mm thin, dual-core smartphone with SuperAMOLED Plus screen runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Galaxy S II Worldwide Sales reaches 20 million

"Since its launch in late April 2011, the Galaxy S II has seen tremendous growth reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world. We are thrilled that 20 million customers around the world has enjoyed the smart life Galaxy S II has brought us. We will continue to introduce products to satisfy our customers' hight expection," said JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung.

Samsung so far has remained tight-lipped about its next big thing the Galaxy S III. Still, there's no official informationfrom the company as to when the device might arrive -

but South Africa's MTN network has confirmed that "it will stock the Galaxy S III later this year, in place of the Galaxy Nexus, which the carrier decided not to add to its range," reports MyBroadBand.co.za.

Two other operators in South Africa confirmed the story:

"Virgin Mobile said that they would range the Samsung Galaxy S3 as soon as it is available, which they will do so from sometime during Q3 2012, adding that it will do so from Q3 this year, while Cell C said that they are hoping to have the SGS3 available in stores by July 2012 and that pricing will be confirmed at a later stage."
