The United States Department of Justice, seized and shut down the massively popular file sharing and hosting site "MegaUpload" and following the indictment, the Organised and Financial Crime Agency of New Zealand arrested MegaUpload founder Kim Schmitz (Kim Dotcom), CMO Finn Batato, co-founder and CTO Mathias Ortmann and others.

The feds are alleging criminal copyright infringement and racketeering, and the full indictment has already been posted online. Their subsequent bail request was denied in New Zealand court as it was opposed by US authorities on the case.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the US is looking to seize a great deal of property of the charged MegaUpload execs, including $175 million scattered across bank accounts worldwide, "a 2010 Maserati, a 2008 Rolls Royce, and a number of Mercedes Benzes".

- Two 108-inch Sharp LCD TVs
- Two Sony PMW-F3K cameras
- Two 65-inch Sharp LC-65XS1M LCD TVs
- 56-inch TVLogic LUM56W
- 60 Dell 710 computer servers
List of some of the vehicles forfeited include:

- 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drop Head Coupe
- 2010 Maserati GranCabrio
- 16 various modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles (including many CLK and CL series)
- 1989 Lamborghini LM002
- 1959 Cadillac Series 62 convertible
- 1957 Cadillac El Dorado
- Unknown Harley Davidson motorcycle
- Von Dutch Kustom motor bike
- Two 2010 Mini Cooper S coupes
- 2010 Sea-Doo GTX jet ski
Several of the seized vehicles carried personalized license plates that said: GOD', 'GUILTY' 'MAFIA', 'HACKER', 'STONED', 'V' (for Vendetta?), 'KIM COM', 'CEO' and 'POLICE'.
