Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) marks a major milestone for Android design and comes with an enhanced UI framework with new interactions and styles that let you create Android apps that are simpler and more beautiful than ever before.
"In ICS we touched nearly every pixel of the system as we expanded the new design approaches introduced in Honeycomb tablets to all types of mobile devices. Starting with the most basic elements, we introduced a new font, Roboto, designed for high-resolution displays. Other big changes include framework-level action bars on phones and support for new phones without physical buttons," Google informs.
In order to help developers writing Anfroid apps, the Adnroid Developers team today introduced a new portal dubbed "Android Design," the place to learn about principles, building blocks, and patterns for creating world-class Android user interfaces.
"Whether you're a UI professional or a developer playing that role, these docs show you how to make good design decisions, big and small," the team said.
The team promises that in the coming months, Android Design will expand with more in-depth content.
