Last year, on May 5, 2011, Google Correlate on Google Labs was lauched -- enabling a correlation search between a user-provided time series and millions of time series of Google search traffic. Today, Google has announced that Correlate has now expands to 49 additonal countries.

"To help researchers outside the United States, we're pleased to announce support for 49 additional countries in Google Correlate. It's now possible to see correlations like "snorkeling" in Australia, "cherry blossoms" in Japan , and "beer garden" in Germany," blogged Matt Mohebbi, Software Engineer.
Adding, Mohebbi says "Since our initial launch, we've graduated to Google Trends and we've seen a number of great applications of Correlate in several domains, including economics (consumer spending, unemployment rate and housing inventory), sociology and meteorology. The correspondence of gas prices and search activity for fuel efficient cars was even briefly discussed in a Fox News presidential debate and NPR recently covered correlations related to political commentators."
In other Google news, the YouTube team today acknowledged that "over the past few days some public viewcounts have been frozen."
The team has promised to fix the issue within the next couple of days and suggests that "and until all public viewcount updates have occurred, YouTube Analytics remains the most timely and accurate source of views data"
- While the public viewcount is stuck, all your views are still being recorded, and are visible in YouTube Analytics.
- AdSense impressions are not affected by this data backlog.
